I am going to make lists of all my favorites this holiday season in different categories from books to meditation supplies to supplements I take daily! I will compile everything into a list HERE for reference and talk more specifically to each item in the dedicated post.
Today we explore….
The five books that have changed my life most
- Eat Pray Love … By Elizabeth Gilbert
I really couldn’t give two fucks how cliche it is that this is my number one. I actually picked up this book way before it was popular over 9 years ago at an airport on a whim. The funny thing is, I was actually headed to an Ashram myself in Kona, Hawaii for my Yoga and Meditation Teacher Training. I related SO much and I have read this book multiple times and refer back to it often. Through the divorce, finding my own spirituality again and just learning to love “alone”, this book is a companion to me forever.
I firmly believe everybody in the world needs a copy of this book in their possession. This is the most beautiful written story for anyone who is a dreamer and believes in destiny and love. Some of the quotes I live by are from this book.
- “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
- “It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.”
3. Daring Greatly … By Brene Brown
I don’t think a single book has taught me how to live my life more boldly and bravely than this book. I learned everything I know about vulnerability and authenticity from this book. It is beautiful. It has molded me as a parent, friend and one day I know this book will be instrumental in being vulnerable in love. This book is a game changer for anyone looking to live a more meaningful life and rid themselves of shame, guilt and fear.
4. Tuesday’s with Morrie … By Mitch Alboum
I picked up this book 15 years ago. It still has lessons that have stayed with me. The one thing that I remember so deeply from this book is the permission to FEEL. Really feel. All of an emotion before letting it go. I always loved the relationship between Mitch and Morrie. Flash Forward and it reminds me of my relationship with Bob now. I have my own “Morrie” and it is truly beautiful the wisdom and love having a special older friend brings into your life.
5. The Single Woman … By Mandy Hale
This book was my “bible” when I reentered the dating world. For the past 5 years I have referred back to it time and time again to make me laugh, snap me out of a mindset or just to feel a sense of camaraderie and empowerment in being single. It is sassy as described and fun! A must have classic book for any single lady out there!
